MEJICO MEHICOO;

Last night in the midst of Sydney’s down pour my cousin and I craved Mexican, craved it bad enough that we decided to doll ourselves up and travel into the city; through the floods and torrential rain. In Sydney I have yet to find a Mexican Restaurant that tickles my fancy, nothing that intrigues me enough to talk about it and what to head back to. Our last nights spot may just tick those boxes that I’ve been wanting to mark off. Mejico on Pitt St, was delicious. It’s long interior, seated more than 50 people with more seats running across the very generous bar.

Beautifully decorated with the random placed bright pink chairs. We were seated up the top, at the back which was really nice, away from the chaos of the front of the restaurant near the bar, as it was a little quieter and gave us a lovely overlook of the whole place.

The wait staff were very informative, asking if we had ever been before and recommending her favourites and Mejico’s specialities also letting us know that Margaritas are only $10 tonight. While sipping over our margaritas we looked over the menu and decided to order 5 small share plates because we wanted to try it all. We decided on the:

Guacamole; smashed table side – Avocado, serrano chilli, pistachios and plantain chips.

Pork Belly; Braised belly, carrot & cumin puree, smoked guajillo paste, pickled vegetables.

Three – bean dip; slow-cooked cannellini, black turtle & kidney beans. Spiced tomato salsa, mozzarella, hand-cut tortilla chips.

Jalapeno poppers; Crumed & stuffed with feta and herbs. Chipotle mayo.

Pork Tacos; Slow braised pork, chilli caramel salsa, aioli, scratchings.

All of the above was really delicious, I cannot fault anything. Everything was so tasty, presented beautifully and the service was impeccable. My favourites would have to be the three-bean dip along with the pork tacos. I honestly cannot wait to go back, not only to order all of the above but to order the rest of the menu!

Without a fault in sight I have to rate this well, just at it deserves. The menu was inventive and on point, the wait staff a pleasure and the atmosphere near to perfect. Mejico is by far one of the best Mexican Restaurants in Sydney that I have been to and if this review doesn’t put it on your to see places look over the photos again!
